Superior LoftsHistory

Superior Lofts is located in the historically rich area of downtown Ft. Wayne, Indiana in the heart of the city’s riverfront development. The restored industrial building houses 72 high-end apartments, 21,000 square feet of street-level retail space and climate-controlled self-storage units.

The structure was built in 1904 for the Fort Wayne Box Company, which produced art and business calendars, wood and glass souvenirs, leather goods, signs, and novelties. In 1910 the company bought out the Fort Wayne Engraving Company and moved its operations into the building. Over the years, many successors occupied the historic factory, with Graphic Packaging being its most recent occupant. The building has been vacant since 2010.

The industrial building is one of Fort Wayne’s most significant examples of Art Moderne architecture. Design features include a rounded corner entry tower clad in limestone panels, long bands of steel sash ribbon windows, and articulated window and door bays.
